Colorado Forest Fires – June 10
Not a good time to be in the Rockies. Yesterday as I drove up I25 from Denver I was shocked at how cloudy it was. It looked like it was about to dump some major rain. Once I got closer I could tell it was actually smoke!!!! I started to get a bit nervous. Locals here in La Porte, Colorado say it is the worst forest fire they can remember (one guy that told me was about 80 years old). They are not sure what caused the fire but this last winter was one of the most mild they have had in a long time, which certainly doesn’t help. Tonight I’ll be sleeping in the back of my rental truck just a mile from the flames… seriously. If it starts getting warm in the truck I’ll know why! haha! I’m in a secured location, no worries. My log supplier said that we should be fine…. but I’m still preparing for the worst… I may be driving all the way back to KC with an empty truck as roads are being closed. That sucks! Hoping for the best! If things work out I’ll be bringing back around 600 logs with a mix of Lodge Pole Pine and Aspen. Ready to get home, enjoy the pics!
